Pharmacy First

Quick and Convenient Care

The Pharmacy First scheme, introduced by the UK Government and NHS England on 31 January 2024, provides patients with faster access to treatment while helping to reduce pressure on GP services.

Under this initiative, patients can receive treatment for seven common conditions directly from their local pharmacy—without needing a GP appointment or prescription.

Conditions Treated Through Pharmacy First:

✔ Sinusitis
✔ Sore throat
✔ Earache
✔ Infected insect bite
✔ Impetigo
✔ Shingles
✔ Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women

Patients can access this service by visiting a participating pharmacy in person or booking online. GP practices, NHS 111, and urgent care providers may also direct patients to a pharmacy offering this service.

Young Carers at The Misbourne Practice!

To Our Young Cares at The Misbourne Practice!r

At The Misbourne Practice, we recognise the incredible dedication and resilience of our young carers. The young individuals, often under the age of 18, take on the significant responsibility of caring for a family member or friend who is ill, disabled, or struggling with substance misuse. Your contributions are invaluable, and we would like to support you in every way possible.

We Will Listen and Understand: We promise to always take the time to listen to your concerns and validate your feelings. Your voice matters, and we are here to support you.

We Will Recognise Your Individual Needs: We understand that every young carer has unique challenges. We promise to avoid making assumptions and to take the time to understand your specific situation, providing the personalized support you need.
We Will Ensure Professional Support: We promise not to rely on you to interpret medical information for the person you care for. We will ensure that professional support is available to bridge this gap, so you can focus on what matters most.
We Will Offer Flexible Appointments: We promise to make healthcare appointments more accessible by offering times that fit around your school schedule and providing longer appointment slots if needed. We aim to reduce the stress and pressure on you.
We Will Spread Awareness: We promise to share information about the challenges you face and the support available to you. By raising awareness, we hope to foster more understanding and resources for young carers like you.

These promises reflect our commitment to supporting you in your vital role as a young carer.

Thank you for being an essential part of our community.

Email as Primary Mode of Contact with patients

We are moving away from SMS communication being our primary way to contact patients, due to a rise in messaging costs; text messages will only be used where deemed absolutely necessary.

It is therefore imperative that we have your correct email address, as that will be our preferred means of communication.

Please update using the Change of Personal Details - The Misbourne Practice on our website -
